NIC is the place for all of your homeownership needs. From people just beginning their journey to those who want to improve their existing home, NIC has the answers.

NIC, a Muskegon-based non-profit, offers programs to virtually anyone throughout Muskegon County and beyond.

Here's the really cool part: we do not charge for any of our services!!

We offer home ownership education to assist families in choosing a home, learning about the closing process, and working with lenders and Realtors.

For those not currently mortgage ready, we offer Financial Literacy classes and one on one credit counseling to help you qualify for a mortgage the RIGHT WAY. You give us your goals, we help you attain them!!

For those ready to choose a home, we offer special opportunities partnering with the City of Muskegon and MSHDA to assist our qualifying clients with deferred loans to fix up houses at the point of purchase. These loans help set up families for success by making sure no major systems will fail in the first few years of homeownership. Primary areas of concern are heating, electrical, and heating, as well as windows and doors, roofs, and other exterior work. You will enjoy the benefit of lower utility bills, sleep easier with the security of knowing your house is decent, safe, and affordable, and know that you have been given the tools to be a successful homeowner.

For those already owning a home, NIC offers several programs for qualified families to provide repairs to their home to protect their investment. Call the office for details.

NIC also assists families in retaining their home. In times of economic distress, NIC leads the lakeshore in providing vital counseling to families at risk of losing their home. Our certified counselors work with you and your lender to keep your assets where they belong--in your house and in Muskegon County. This program is undewritten by MSHDA and the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
